Dark green breast discharge

What causes green nipple discharge? Why do I have dark green discharge from my nipples? Is dark brown discharge before period normal?


In addition to causing pain and itching, fibrocystic breast changes can, at times, cause secretion of clear, white, yellow, or green nipple discharge. The fluid is usually milky, green , or brown.

This is normal and not a sign of cancer. Normal functioning (physiological discharge) Physiological nipple discharge usually occurs in both breasts and happens only when the breast tissue is manipulated in some way, such as by squeezing the nipple to check for discharge. The discharge may be clear, yellow, white or dark green. Clear or light white discharge : This can be due to pregnancy.

I am with fibrocystic breasts. For the past week my left breast has oozed dark green fluid but I do not have the usual swelling or pain. I have had a dark green to light green discharge from both breasts when squeezed for many years. I asked a Dr about it years ago. He told me to stop playing with myself.


Later, I had breast cancer (not relate I think) and after surgery had a pocket of a copious amount of dark green fluid in my surgical breast. We hereby present two cases of breast cancer with no palpable mass manifesting as isolated N which was whitish in color. In both cases, cytology of the discharge revealed highly pleomorphic cells indicating a high grade.


Breast cancer is an uncommon cause of nipple discharge. Less than of women with breast cancer have nipple discharge , and most of these women have other symptoms, such as a lump or newly inverted nipple, as well as the nipple discharge. Spontaneous unilateral nipple discharge , regardless of color, is considered abnormal.

Sometimes discharge from your nipples is OK and will get better on its own.


You are more likely to have nipple discharge if you have been pregnant at least once. When it does, see your doctor because it may be a sign that you have breast cancer. It is important to find out what is.


Vaginal discharge serves an important housekeeping function in the female reproductive system. Fluid made by glands inside the vagina and cervix carries away dead cells and bacteria. Jumping into capsulectomy and implant exchange is careless and may not treat your problem.


I would recommend a MMG, and consult with a breast surgeon for evaluation, blood work, possible duct cannulation and exploration.
