Thailand season

Heat, humidity, and rainfall vary significantly, depending on where and when you’re traveling. The hot season runs from March through to June, with April and May the hottest months of the year. The monsoon season usually is accompanied by heavy rain but will normally have rough seas.


Thailand has three official seasons - hot, cool, and wet. This season can vary from year to year. The Thai hunting season has officially begun!

Although Thailand’s seasons tend to be consistent across the country, the Samui Archipelago, in the western part of the Gulf of Thailan has a slightly different rainy season and most precipitation occurs between October and January. In the south, the climate differs between the eastern and western coasts. For most of Thailan the wettest months are usually August-October. However, the Gulf Coast of the southern peninsula (e.g. Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan) is affected by the south-west monsoon which can lead to heavy rainfall in November and the beginning of December.

What is the best time of year to visit Thailand? Thailand’s high season is November to February, when the weather is generally at its best throughout the country. It dose not rain every day so there is still plenty of sunshine. The seasons are as follows: November thru February - Dry, Cool Season - Winds are predominantly from the north when this season starts. This does not mean that it will rain all day. Usually the rain comes fast then finishes.


You rarely get days where it will rain all day. The rain comes in spurts and is sporadic most of the time. The northern, northeastern, and central areas of the country (including Bangkok) experience three distinct seasons. Normally, this period sees sporadic rain.


At the start of the rainy perio when rambutan becomes in season , a few festivals dedicated to the fruit are held at Surat Thani province. The Similan Islands feature some of the best dive sites in the worl where barracuda dart amid coral reefs and rock formations. Sometimes the months of May and June will also see some extra rains as they lead into the official monsoon season. In general, there is a dry season and a rainy season , but the dates of the monsoon rains vary greatly among different parts of the peninsula. May to October is the rainy season on the western side.


Short, intense daily downpours characterize this season. The high season starts at the beginning of the dry (cool) season in November, and finishes the beginning of the wet season in May.

The low season continues throughout the wet season from May to November. The weather in Bangkok is dominated by a tropical monsoon climate. This means the city has three main seasons: hot season from March to June, rainy season from July to October and cool season between November and February.
