Boston butt pork roast crock pot

A Boston butt is usually what you want to use in pulled pork as well. Cooking a pork butt roast in the crock pot is the best way to cook this cut of pork. It’s a cut that takes a long time to break down and you end up with a deliciously tender, juicy pork Boston butt roast by the time you are done.

Prep a large crock pot with balls of aluminum foil. Make about inch balls but then squish down to inch high and arrange in the bottom of the crock pot. Spray the pork with cooking spray in your large slow cooker.

Sprinkle with herbs and spices on top and fatty sides. Cut the roast to fit, if necessary. Add the water and sprinkle the pork lightly with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Cook roast halves in Tbsp. Place roast halves in a lightly greased 6-qt.

Step Cover and cook on HIGH hour. Most slow cookers can accommodate a roast between and pounds. You must add liquid to a slow cooker or the roast will dry out as it cooks.

Heat oil in a skillet (or stove top safe crock ) and season roast with garlic, salt, pepper and cajun seasoning. Brown roast in oil on all sides, then set aside on a nearby plate. Pour water in skillet to lift all brown bits from pan. Place veggies in the crock and pour juices on top. Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 8-hours or until the meat is fork tender.

Place the pork roast and water in the crock pot. Remove the pork from the crock pot and place on a platter or large cutting board. Let cool slightly then remove any visible fat and shred the pork using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the crock pot and add the barbecue sauce.

The smell alone of this roast cooking is wonderful, the taste is moist and amazing. If you are a busy cook, messy cook, hate to. Using hands, rub the spices and mustard into the roast on all sides.

I’ve been able to find Boston butt from pastured pork at great prices, and slow cooking this recipe makes it incredibly tender. The meat will “pull” away from the fat and blade bone (if bone-in) in sections. Toss or serve with barbeque sauce if desired. If using butt roasts, double the rub recipe.

Easy Slow Cooker Pork Roast with a bone-in pork roast butt , your favorite pork rub, and root beer cooked low and slow, in a very flavorful and tender port roast.

The best part - this recipe is Keto and Low Carb approved if you use a stevia based root beer like we did in the recipe. Step Put roast in crock pot , slice onion on top. Step Can be sliced and serve with vegetables or chopped and served on buns. Reduce slow cooker heat to Low and cook for at least hours or overnight. Remove pork from the slow cooker and shred with two forks.

Discard juices and rinse out slow cooker crock. Return shredded pork to slow cooker and stir barbeque sauce into pork.
